DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The employee independently plans their own work and gains alignment from management to priorities and work plan. Inclusive in this is the responsibility for independently developing technical strategies and tactics to execute against project or business plans. The candidate is accountable for results of his or her own work.

The employee is responsible for sound technical judgment in application of advanced technologies. The position can face diverse situations that require analytical, interpretive, system, or constructive thinking to overcome problems. Candidate applies knowledge as a seasoned, professional specialist in an area, and is considered by others as a recognized expert who can solve the most difficultand challenging problems faced by the group. Problems or issues usually involve careful interpretation, analysis, or diagnostics. Situations can be unstructured and require original approaches to solving problems or challenges. The candidate will solve problems using a combination of data, scientific methods, experience, and in-house and outside experts.

The Position has no employees reporting to it on a permanent basis, but the position does include technical leadership of a periodic work team. Candidate could be called upon to review work by team members, train team members, and contribute to performance appraisals (but not hiring, firing, or disciplinary actions).

The Candidate will solve problems by considering courses of action within the framework of management’s goals and standards, but may identify the need for development of new policies and medium term goaI.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS: This is a professional level position.

The desirable level of education for fully competent performance is a Masters Degree, or equivalent Professional Engineering certification.

The position requires expertise in one or several technical disciplines gained through education and extensive experience of 3 to 6 years.

The Minimum Level of Education needed to qualify for entry into the position is a Bachelor Degree or equivalent, and minimally, 3 to 5 years. Candidate will be required to continue education and training in related areas of expertise, such as Leadership, Project Management, Statistics, Finite Element Analysis, Triz, etc. to enable them to continue to perform in this position.

Candidate must be an Individual contributor as well as provide Leadership to others in his / her area. This is accomplished in the provision of expert advice, guidance, or professional services that help define the nature of practices or outputs in their technical or functional areas. They must also minimally possess sufficient skills to supervise technical, vocational, or paraprofessional workers.

Candidate must frequently seek cooperation, persuade, or influence others to resolve problems, change people’s minds, or directly produce customer satisfaction. Influences would be on: Own Supervisor, Engineers, Supervisors and Managers, Operations or Plant Personnel, Suppliers, Domestic and International Customers, Other CSI Locations Globally and similar personnel as listed here.

The Candidate is accountable for completion of complex tasks, coaching, helping, or advising others, or the management of a sub-function through high level professionals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work Schedule: 8 hour days, with occasional after hours work.

PPE: ANSI Z41 approved safety shoes, hearing and eye protection as appropriate for work area, gloves according to work tasks, and other PPE as assigned and required.

Tools and Equipment: Various writing utensils, radios, phone, computer, printers, fax machines, calculators, various computer software required for specific roles.

Essential Job Functions:

11.Demonstrate awareness of and compliance with all pertinent safety policies and procedures
12.Maintain a professional, clean, and organized work environment
13.Participate in work related training programs
14.Close visual acuity to perform computer tasks, read & develop spreadsheets, read financial data, etc.
15.Able to travel without assistance as required by specific role
16.Able to participate in meetings and discussions with peer group and management team, and interact with employees in multiple locations and settings

The Candidate provides specialized information necessary to support or implement projects. The position contributes to both the development and implementation of recommendations. The position may modify existing approaches with management approval to come up with solutions. Assignments may be global.

This position may be assigned either a product focus or tooling focus. For a product focus, the primary responsibilities include:
• Generates engineering data by using existing guidelines, calculation tools, standard SRED templates, etc.
• Receives general objectives and direction, but does his or her own planning and manages own work in order to accomplish design work within scheduled time.
• Presents and explains technical plans to technology managers, technical experts, and others to gain acceptance of technical plans.
• Translates engineering decisions into engineering models and drawings.
• Develops an understanding of the consumer, customer, and market needs in areas of project assignments. The technical solutions developed deliver a sustainable competitive advantage against one or more of these needs.
• Coordinates work with other departments, contractors, vendors, lab, etc.
• Leads problem solving process.
• Consistently delivers viable technical solutions in the expected timeframe.
• Recognized as having the most technical knowledge on assigned projects.

For a tooling focus, the primary responsibilities include:
• Develops tool designs using existing design guidelines, calculation tools, and standard testing methods.
• Develop technical plan for executing tooling and process design engineering work.
• Coordinates design work with other departments, contractors, vendors, lab, etc.
• Leads problem solving process.
• Receives general objectives and direction, but does his or her tactical planning.
• Presents and explains technical plans to technology managers, technical experts, and others to gain acceptance of technical plans.
• Consistently delivers viable technical solutions in the expected timeframe.
• Recognized as having the most technical knowledge on assigned tooling projects.

MAJOR CUSTOMERS / PRODUCTS/SERVICES: (Outputs customers require)
1.Value Creation Teams, New Product Development Teams, or Global Product Development Teams.
2. Customer support teams, customers, and plant teams.
A. Provide complete product solutions that meet the customer and internal performance requirements.
B. Create technical development strategies and plans that will result in the above product solutions.
C. Provide technical leadership to other engineers designing other elements of the entire system, such as tooling, machining conversions, chucks, cappers, and auxiliary manufacturing equipment. This is not a subordinate position.
D. Lead technical reviews with peers and colleagues.
E. Provides problem analysis solutions to project teams or department heads.
F.Creation of customer and manufacturing specifications for plastic closures and bottle finishes.
G. Provides second line of technical support for existing product lines under management direction.
H. Support customers, teams, and plant personnel in similar fashion as outlined above when there is his / her department managements permission."
