Clinical Nurse Specialist - RN - Pediatric Emergency Department

Currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist for a great opportunity in the New York, NY area. The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree and certification as a Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pediatrics and possess 5 or more years of acute care RN experience in Pediatric Emergency. This individual will deliver clinical teaching and support that makes a life-changing difference.
 
Responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Apply influence across the three spheres of patient/family, staff, and system to transform healthcare delivery
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals and service providers to ensure seamless, quality care across the continuum.
  • Participate in the clinical management of patients and demonstrates advanced clinical decision-making skills.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards which affect the care of the patient.
  • Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with all physicians and the health care team members involved in the care of the patient.
  • Maintain reasonable availability for clinical consultation for the patient.
  • Participate in and assist the staff in developing relevant research projects related.
  • Coordinate with the Pediatric Emergency team to develop education plans based on identified needs and participate in teaching as appropriate.
 
Requirements of the Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Master’s degree and certification as a Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pediatrics
  • Current New York State License as a Registered Nurse
  • 5 or more years of acute care RN experience in Pediatric Emergency
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication and teamwork
  • Certified Pediatric CNS (required)
  • ED experience (as a staff nurse or as a CNS) (required)
  • Adult ED experience is acceptable
  • Pediatric critical care experience is acceptable
  • From a Magnet organization (preferred)
  • Published (preferred)
  • Experience in leading/facilitating committee work, especially shared governance (preferred)
  • Experience with Clinical Ladder and professional development (preferred)
