Coding Manager

Currently seeking a Coding Manager with for a great opportunity in the California area. The ideal candidate will be a Certified Coding Specialist, possess 2+ years management experience and have inpatient coding experience.
 
Responsibilities of the Coding Manager
  • Assure that coding and abstracting of all discharged patient types are completed within specified time frame.
  • Control staffing and productivity requirements to ensure that all coding responsibilities and goals are met.
  • Assure that the A130 is reviewed daily and reconciled.
  • Manager will select, train and mentor high quality employees, promote positive working relationships, assist in the evaluation of the coding program.
  • Ensure Kronos is updated daily to reflect accurate productivity.
  • Assure that the coding staff has 95% accuracy rate of assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.
  • Assure that a 95% accuracy rate in DRG assignment per HCFA guidelines are assigned by the coding staff.
  • Chart to be rechecked after the physician completes them to assure the codes match the final diagnoses.
  • All discrepancies are to be resolved with the physician and coder and rebilled if there is a payment difference.
  • Provide regular feedback to each employee on an ongoing basis and during the annual evaluation period.
  • Provide statistics for the monthly HOT report with 95% accuracy and within 3 business days of month end close.
  • Responsible for tracking daily attendance, vacation and sick days.
 
Requirements of the Coding Manager
  • RHIT or RHIA preferred and CCS required
  • Must keep CE credits current
  • Inpatient Coding Experience Required
  • 2+ years Hospital Experience Required
  • 2+ years Manager Experience Required
  • Knowledge of all Coding computer systems to include HPF and Cerner systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of all coding guidelines as well as company coding P&P's.
